About this library

The Ledger started with a familiar frustration. One of us had an old dog slowing down, and the internet offered two kinds of reading: journal papers dense enough to need a second degree, and forum threads where the same three questions had been argued for six years. The research was genuinely interesting. Almost none of it was written for a person holding a leash.

So we started writing the missing version. Each file in this library does the same reading you would do if you had the time: the published studies, with the species of every one of them named, and the owner communities, where people compare notes on what they see in their own animals. Then we write it up the way a good magazine would. Short sentences where they help, long ones where the idea needs room, and no jargon that doesn't earn its keep.

Two house rules keep us honest. First, nobody involved with the Ledger sells peptides, and we take no advertising. A library that profits from what it reviews is a store with better manners, and we have no interest in being that. Second, we don't publish protocols. No amounts, no schedules, no preparation instructions, for any animal, ever. Those decisions belong to a veterinarian who has met yours. If that's what you came for, the most useful thing we can give you is the research itself and the right questions to carry into the appointment.

The community reporting in these files comes from public owner forums, Reddit communities like r/peptides, breeder groups, and sport horse circles. We describe what people talk about and why. When the owner reports and the published work point the same way, we say so, and when the studies haven't caught up to the anecdotes, we say that too.
